O remake do clássico western “Sete Homens e um Destino” será o filme de abertura do Festival de Toronto deste ano. A produção estrelada por Denzel Washington e Chris Pratt vai ser exibida no dia 18 de setembro. O evento marca o início da temporada para a disputa pelo Oscar 2017. Grandes diretores do cinema mundial também vão marcar presença em Toronto. O canadense Denis Villeneuve lança “Arrival”, enquanto Jonathan Demme estreia “JT + The Tennessee Kids”. Forte candidato na temporada de premiações, “Loving”, de Jeff Nichols, também terá espaço assim como “The Birth of a Nation”, de Nate Parker. Oliver Stone apresenta o polêmico “Snowden”, Ewan McGregor traz a estreia como diretor em “American Pastoral”, Rob Reiner lança “LBJ” com Woody Harrelson vivendo o ex-presidente americano Lyndon Johnson e Damien Chazelle exibe o musical “La La Land” com Ryan Gosling e Emma Stone.

A indiana Mira Nair apresenta em Toronto “Queen of Katwe”, o dinamarquês Thomas Vinterberg leva “A Comunidade” e o alemão Werner Herzog exibe “Salt and Fire”. Sucessos exibidos no Festival de Cannes também ganham espaço no evento canadense: “The Salesman”, de Asghar Farhadi, “Elle”, de Paul Verhoeven” e “American Honey”, Andrea Arnold.
